GOLFING HOLIDAY AT PARADORES AT EL SALER & MALAGA GOLF - FEBRUARY 2013

Both Paradores - Malaga Golf & El Saler - have their own Golf Courses and offer reduced rates to their guests, We played both and were very impressed especially with El Saler with its fast true greens and immaculate fairways. (They are having The Spanish Open there soon) Just to step out of your bedroom door at both hotels and be straight on the golf course is heaven!

We travelled from El Saler to Malaga via the new Parador at Lorca,  Granada and Nerja. Now if you want a real touch of Heaven, stay at Lorca. From the moment you walk through the front door the only word on your lips is WOW! After many millions of Euros having been spent on it, this hotel comes very highly recommended. The views from the bedroom windows are stunning, and as you dine you can survey the illuminated Jewish and Muslim Ruins excavated and preserved in the building of this magnificent hotel.

Our stop over at both Granada and Nerja were also breath taking experiences, with the hospitality of the staff and gourmet food to die for. As a golfer, my favourite is Malaga. So easy to get to, the hotel is just minutes from the airport, and the moment you check in you're in Golfers Paradise!

We shall be talking about this golfing holiday for some time to come.

      ESCAPE FROM THE WINTER FOR A WEEK IN SPAIN IN FEBRUARY 2014 WITH GREAT GOLF

We are planning a golfing holiday in February 2014 - such a good time to escape from the weather at home!

This will be a 7-night holiday staying at the Parador at Javea (between Alicante and Valencia) with golf at Club de Golf Javea, and at El Saler playing on the championship course surrounding the Parador. There will be plenty to do for non-golfers as El Saler is only 12 Km from the wonderful city of Valencia, there is great walking country in natural parks close to both Paradores, miles of sandy beach beside the Parador at El Saler which is within the Albufera Nature Reserve where most of Spain's rice is grown in a large lagoon. The Parador has a spa.

Hi, I'm Con Cluskey better known as Lead Singer with The Bachelors.

Since 2005 I have organised the golf competitions on Lorna's Parador holidays. We spent a week in May in Galicia in North West Spain, staying in the Paradores at Baiona and Santiago and played golf at Ria de Vigo, a spectacular 18 hole course overlooking the city and bay of Vigo

Our group in April 2010 stayed at the Parador at AIGUABLAVA and played 18 holes at PLATJA DE PALS. Congratulations to Veronica O'Shea who won the competition and received wine from Marques de Caceres and smoked salmon from the Connemara Smokehouse. Another holiday included golf in May 2011, staying at Hotel Fuerte Conil on the Cadiz coast, and at the Paradores at Ronda and Malaga Golf. The competitions were held at Montanmedio (Cadiz) and at Malaga Golf. Congratulations to Anne Fagan who won the competitions So That's how you swing a club! At PGA Catalonia, Emporda and Platja de Pals whilst staying at the Paradores at Aiguablava and Cardona

At Montecastillo, Montenmedio, Baveira and Malaga Golf in Andalucia

At El Saler, Oliva Nova and La Sella between Valencia and Alicante. The Parador at El Saler has been completely refurbished and the course is now in peak condition so we intend to include El Saler in our holiday early in 2014.

Our escorted tours are designed to introduce people to the areas of Spain and Portugal away from the overcrowded and overpriced resorts. They particularly appeal to those who say that they would like to visit the more remote areas but do not want to drive themselves, or go on a conventional coach tour, so we have tried to fill the gap by organising tours staying in Paradores and other hotels in "Real Spain" .We aim to make the tours as flexible as possible, giving plenty of free time to enjoy the Paradores in which we stay.

Since 2005 we have included golf on some of our tours. These are very different from the usual golfing holidays as golf is combined with the theme of our tours, visiting cities, National Parks etc and offering the unique experience of staying in Paradores in some of the most scenic and unspoilt areas of Spain.

We started our tours in 2002 and now have many regular people travelling with us - some have been four and five times, so we are hoping that the idea of including golf  2 or 3 times a year will appeal to people who would enjoy an interesting holiday with some fun golf attached. We are so fortunate to have Con Cluskey organising the competitions. When he is not singing with "The Bachelors" he is very involved in the celebrity charity golf circuit, so is the ideal person to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Although we play at some of the finest courses in Spain, the golf is not taken too seriously. However the prizes are worth playing for as they are presented by Marques de Caceres bodegas in Rioja and the Connemara Smokehouse.

There are always plenty of alternatives for non golfers, and all our holidays can be extended if people wish to stay for a few extra days.
