Portugal - 'Europe's last best-kept
secret' - is proud of its history and traditions, much of
which is associated with the Pousadas.
The state-owned 'POUSADAS DE
PORTUGAL' form a network of more than 40 establishments
spread across the country from the green and rustic valleys of
the Minho to the luxuriant mountains of Trás-os-Montes, or to
Alentejo's golden plains and the Algarve coast with its fine
sand and warm waters.
Since the creation of this network in
1942, each Pousada has become synonymous with the history,
culture and traditions of its particular region. Recently
reclassified into 4 distinct groups - Historic, Historic
Design, Nature and Charm Pousadas, depending on the
individual characteristics of each Pousada - examples
of the 'POUSADAS DE PORTUGAL' now include:
- Castles, palaces, monasteries and convents - all
meticulously restored and converted
- Country houses and mansions - constructed in the style
of the region
- Traditional hotels - often in superb locations and
settings, some with as few as a dozen or so rooms.
The prices quoted are in
Sterling. They are the equivalent of the official Pousada
Euro Rates.

BOOKING ARRANGEMENTS FOR 2008 |
There
are now currently 43 Pousadas in Portugal (including 2 in the
Azores and 1 in Brazil), now managed by the prestigious
Pestana hotel group. Apart from the Pousadas we also offer
exclusive discounted rates at four of the Pestana group –
the 5* Pestana Palace in Lisbon
(featured on “No Frontiers” last year), Pestana
Porto in the historic centre of the city and very convenient
now that there is a direct flight from Dublin to Porto, and
the Pestana hotels in Cascais and Sintra near Lisbon.
Keytel
International is the official representative in Ireland for
the Portuguese Pousadas and the Pestana hotels as mentioned.
Reservations will be made through the London
office. We will
provide a booking form to be sent to Keytel International, 402
Edgware Road, London W2 1ED or the form can be completed on
the Keytel website. www.keytel.co.uk.
The
London office will then make the reservation for you and issue
the vouchers for the accommodation in both Pousadas and in the
Pestana hotels.
Payment
will be with debit or credit card so that the rates will be
converted and billed to you in Euro.
3% will be added if payment is with a credit card, but
there is no charge for payments made with a debit card.
In 2003 Pestana Hotels and Resorts acquired a sizeable
interest in Pousadas de Portugal and the Pestana group are now
responsible for the management of the network.
The Pousadas now operate under
the management of the prestigious PESTANA HOTEL GROUP,
Portugal's leading hotel organization. We currently offer
exceptionally attractive rates at 4 of the Pestana
Group's leading hotels in Portugal to complement the Pousadas
